As you see in the picture, we have a hardy group of Bright School 4th and 5th graders preparing for their upcoming trip to Japan. Through a series of orientation sessions over the last 3 months, we have all--including the 3 adults going along--been gathering our resources and increasing our knowledge of Japan and its people. All indications suggest that we are about to embark on an experience of a lifetime.
Each of our intrepid Bright students will live for over a week in the home of a Japanese host family, each with a child in the Mito Elementary School in Mito, Japan. The Bright students will attend the school during the day and participate in the after-school activities with the other children. The host families will also introduce them to the city of Mito and its beautiful sites. Later in the week we will spend a day in Tokyo together. Mrs. Nicole Smith, Ms. Asami Nakano, and I are delighted to have the opportunity to share this trip with such wonderful students.
During the trip I will be writing a daily blog about our journey together, including many pictures of our students. I encourage you to follow us as we explore what is a new world for us. We also hope to be able to introduce you to our new Japanese friends we make along the way. As you may know, some of these Japanese students will be visiting us at Bright School in the fall.
Sayonaro..until next time!
